The wildly popular british ski brand you need to know about

whitedot skis

What does it mean to stand apart as a boutique ski manufacturer in the ever-more-popular freeride genre of skiing today?

It means establishing clear goals, direction, and dedication to a unique purpose. Whitedot has done that by sticking to their mission since they were founded in 2008.

Whitedot Skis are made to cater to the expansive and evolving needs of the freeride skiing community by providing several lines of skis with clearly defined purpose.

Each of their skis is meant to fit the needs of individuals with unique skiing styles and preferences by using purposeful design and materials.

Take, for instance, the 2017 Preacher Carbonlite. Advanced Non Crimped Tri-Axle Carbon Fiber sheets are used to stiffen the ski and provide the flex needed to maintain a 14m turn radius at 169cm while lightening up the ski 25-30% over the traditional version.

2017 Preacher Carbonlite

Whitedot has created a real all-mountain ski with touring capability. 112mm underfoot seems like a boat to many skiers but a turn radius of 14m is significantly more agile than most skis in its class.

Across their lines of skis, Whitedot delivers purposeful design and intentional use of materials to create skis that really define their class.

From true all-mountain performance to park and touring skis, you’ll find everything but race and carving skis in this lineup.

To really give Snow Bum readers the inside scoop on Whitedot, we went straight to the source with some questions.

Whitedot Director Ski

Here’s what we found out from Stephen Blackband, President of Operations for Whitedot North America;

Whitedot stands apart from the crowd specifically by, “…creat[ing] skis with A Purity of Purpose, Clarity of Design, Reliable Performance and Innovative Technology.”

In doing so they’ve created lines of skis like their tried and trusted Preacher ski, which holds appeal to skiers of all skills and genres.

Stephen assured us that Whitedot separates themselves in the crowded freeride industry by sticking to their commitment to, “Great quality, clean design, thoughtful use of innovative technology and above all else a ski that can and will take you places!”

We’re pretty sure this company will continue to stand apart with an Apple-like focus on innovation and clean design.

Whitedot looks to continue forging ahead of the competition with focus on things like new technology and materials. They’re using Flax – a linen product – to help with dampening the ski and advanced carbon fiber for lightweight strength. Unique and deliberate ski design for each of their mountain line-ups makes it easy to find a Whitedot ski for every skier.

Finally, we asked Stephen if there’s any chance that on-piste carvers might see a dedicated carving or race ski from Whitedot. While he’s not saying, “no”, he assured us that Whitedot will continue to stick to its guns in pioneering new movement in the freeride genre.

Of course we had to ask a man who makes skiing his income – where’s his favorite place to ski? Stephen says he likes to get some turns in at Telluride, CO or Alpine Meadows, CA. Though he grew up in Europe and still has fond memories of the mountains there.

If you’re an all mountain skier looking for a brand that stands by performance and reliability in every ski, Whitedot is a high contender for your next ski purchase.

Few manufacturers are producing skis that can span genres so readily.

Unfortunately, you’re not going to find a dedicated carving ski in their lineup, but Whitedot knows what they’re about and they deliver!
